I’ve got an upcoming severance post in the same vein. I can’t believe I actually need to defend innie rights, but I have friends who are outie chauvinists.
I hope this blog is building up towards future-self welfare, and becomes just a self-improvement "tips and tricks" blog.
I think the argument for this is strong. While we really don't have a grasp on the experience of a Shrimp, and the experience of a dreamer is illusory and transitory (and I imagine not much can be done to make his existence much better), I'd say we can be highly certain future versions of ourselves are conscious.
Maybe we can even be more confident in this than literally anything else we believe to be conscious. People differ enough over their life that their future self and the present self might have little in common, to the point of being completely different people. I certainly have little in common with my 5 year old self.
So far as helping another being is charitable, opening a savings account would be charity. Investment would be charity. Exercise and healthy eating too. Future-self welfare matters too!
Oh, I already do this, but that's because I have night terrors- if I don't keep my dreaming self happy, I'm going to wake up to a panic attack, which is shitty even at the best of times lmfao
I am now woke on animal welfare, fish welfare, insect welfare, AI welfare, and dream welfare...where will the bloggers take me next?
I’ll try to learn to lucid dream this summer.

That’s crazy. Maybe dream welfare isn’t as intuitive as I thought.
I’ve dreamed of this article
Now we're getting somewhere.

Great article
I’m beginning to think human’s innate sense of morality is the enemy of actual morality.
Why stop there? Might as go all the way to single cell welfare, or molecule welfare.
What are you even talking about? That has nothing to do with anything I said.
